| Ashalekh - Yemenite-Jewish Song • 7 minute ethnic chamber/symphonic arrangement for strings, woodwind and percussion • Original version written for a tenor singer, string quintet, kamanche, shakuhachi, pipa, and three percussionists, but can be adapted to a western music ensemble, full orchestra, or other strings, woodwind, percussion instruments and female singer key. • World premier performed by Yo Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble with Marglait Oved and Barak Marshal (singers) in 2006. • Commissioned by singer Barak Marshal |
